LED Light Therapy (LLLT)

Photobiomodulation: Stimulating cellular function via specific light wavelengths.

Mechanism of Action

Low-Level Light Therapy (LLLT) does not rely on thermal injury to produce results. Instead, it operates on photobiomodulation. Specific wavelengths of light are absorbed by chromophores within the cell's mitochondria (specifically cytochrome c oxidase). This absorption increases ATP (adenosine triphosphate) production, boosting cellular energy, modulating reactive oxygen species, and initiating a cascade that leads to increased fibroblast activity and decreased inflammation.

Red Light (633 nm)

Penetrates approximately 1-2mm into the skin. Primarily targets the epidermis and upper dermis. Excellent for reducing superficial inflammation, accelerating wound healing post-procedure, and stimulating mild collagen production.

Near-Infrared (830 nm)

Invisible to the human eye. Penetrates much deeper (up to 4-5mm) into the reticular dermis and subcutaneous layer. Crucial for deep tissue repair, joint pain, and profound neocollagenesis.

The Irradiance Problem

The efficacy of LED therapy is entirely dependent on the dose (Joules/cm²) and power density (Irradiance). Many consumer at-home masks lack the irradiance required to deliver a therapeutic dose within a reasonable timeframe (e.g., they might take 2 hours to deliver what a clinical Dermalux or Omnilux panel delivers in 15 minutes).
